Additional Info: *What lessons are like with me . . .*
If you work with me as a beginner, you'll learn everything there is to know about playing the saxophone from the basics of making a musical sound, building tone and intonation, building a working repertoire, playing in time, playing different genres and styles, and unique aspects of playing the saxophone such as playing in the altissimo register, using the flexibility of the saxophone to musical advantage, and much more!

Along the way, what you'll really be learning is musicianship--things like basic to advanced music theory, practical ear-training, listening skills, and an understanding and appreciation of music in general.

If you study as a jazz player, you'll follow a diverse curriculum including working from:

* Patterns for Jazz (I've actually met Jerry Coker and took lessons from one of his co-authors).
* Berklee College of Music Sax methods
* Jamie Aebersold repertoire and play-alongs
* Erskovitz and Watts Jazz Duets
* Greg Fishman's etudes and Duets

I can also help you learn how to get past the fear of performing and even help you learn to *have fun* on-stage.

*My background as a teacher . . .*
I've taught saxophone to players from grade school students to beginning adults, to working professional players. I'd be happy to teach you the basics of playing the saxophone or clarinet as a beginner, to help you grow as an intermediate player (move up a chair or two in band, perfect that piece for contest, etc.), or teach you how to play in jazz styles and to improvise as an advancing student. (I also have a degree in Education, taught public school and provided adult education for a number of years.)
Fees: $ 35.00 Dollars Per Hour
. . . 1st lesson = FREE! Then . . .

. . . Students and Seniors: (K - College and 65+): $25/half-hour | $35 hour (includes 30 minutes of directed practice)

. . . Adults: $35/half-hour | $45 per hour

*if you can't afford the rates, call me and we can work something out. Don't have a horn? We can find you one you can afford (including free ones). Don't let the cost keep you from the joy of learning to play and instrument and make your own music!
Will Teach: Beginners, Intermediate Grades, Advanced Grades, Adult Beginners
